An online values card sort for coaches and therapists
Your client does a values card sort on their own time, then puts their values in order by choosing between them two at a time, finds the pairs that may pull against each other, and writes a rule for those moments. With one link from their Settings, you can read what they chose before a session. They can stop the link whenever they like.
If you already use a paper card sort or a values clarification worksheet, the starting point is familiar: the 83 words of the public-domain Personal Values Card Sort. What it adds is the order, built from your client’s own choices, and a record you can both come back to.
What your client does
- Sorts 83 value words, then chooses between their top ten two at a time. The order comes from those choices. This part is free, takes about 12 minutes and needs no account to start.
- Says which pairs of values they feel pulling against each other.
- Writes principles: one value even over another, for a situation they name, with the cost they accept.
- Answers a weekly pulse of eight short questions.
Tensions, principles and the weekly pulse are a one-time $19 your client pays. The order is free.
What you see
- Their order, in its bands, with how often they chose each value.
- The tensions they confirmed.
- The principles they have in force: which value wins over which, and when they plan to review it.
- Their weekly pulse over the last 12 weeks, with a gap for each week they skipped.
The page is read-only and needs no account. It shows their account as it is when you open it, so a principle they write this week is there next time.
What you never see
- Anything your client wrote in their own words, such as the situation, action and cost in a principle.
- Words they added to the list themselves.
- Which values they said no amount would justify trading.
- Their email address.
Your client names who each link is for, and can stop it in Settings at any time. A stopped link stops working the next time it is opened.
What it is not
Even Over is reflection and decision support. It is not a clinical instrument, a diagnosis or therapy. The method page lists the research each step draws on.
